Bike to Butchart Gardens
The Lochside Trail is a picturesque and popular cycling route on Vancouver Island, Canada, that stretches 50 kilometers round trip from Victoria to Butchart Gardens. Starting from Victoria, the trail begins in the bustling downtown area and follows the coastline through charming suburban neighborhoods, parks, and natural reserves.
As you set off on your bicycle, you’ll feel the cool ocean breeze on your face and the warm sun on your back. You’ll catch glimpses of the stunning coastline, where you can stop and take in the panoramic views of the Gorge Inlet.
Continuing on, the trail winds its way through the charming community of Saanich. You’ll also come across several parks and natural reserves, including the scenic Swan Lake / Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary, where you can take a break and explore the lush forests and wetlands.
Stop for fresh fruit at Mitchell’s Farm before climbing up and over the Peninsula. The final leg of your journey will take you through quaint farmlands before leading you into the world-famous Butchart Gardens.
